“Dalla parte dei bambini” / “On the children’s side” was a traveling art exhibition dedicated to children’s rights, as defined by the UN in 1989. The Coordinamento Famiglie Affidatarie organized the event in collaboration with the HDemia SantaGiulia art school of Brescia and the Associazione Artisti Bresciani (Association of Brescian Artists), with Fondazione ASM and Bresciangrana as the event’s sponsors.
The connecting thread of the exhibition is the “Alfabeto dei diritti dei minori” (“Alphabet of Minors’ Rights”), created by artist Massimo Bertoldi, in which every letter of the alphabet is linked to an expression of children’s rights. Each of those letters would be the starting point for the participating artists, who, using different materials and techniques, would present them through their own point of view and sensibilities.
I had the pleasure of participating with an art piece of my own, “Blindsided”, choosing the letter “G” for “Guerra”/”War”.
The CFA promoted the event through different media, with a number of printed ads that ran on local newspapers Giornale di Brescia, Brescia Oggi, and La Voce del Popolo.
On social media, we used reels featuring three different art pieces from the exhibit to promote each stop.
The CFA also printed a premium catalog of the art pieces as a gift to special guests. The catalog featured photographs by Chiara Cadeddu, and each art piece was accompanied by an analysis curated by HDemia Santa Giulia students Vittoria Cavallaro, Elena Fiorindi, Elisa Marenghi, Martina Marino, Irene Martignoni, Anna Paolini and Rampa Erica, who were also responsible for the general curation of the exhibit.
It’s possible to experience browsing the catalog by viewing its digital flipbook version.
